anonymous user definition An anonymous user is, as the name suggests, a person that has no login name and is totally anonymous. Nobody knowns who they are, and that is the way that they are always treated.

Selection results in the current webpage being replaced by the most recent previous webpage.
Redirects the anonymous user back to the start-up anonymous Home page.
Instigates a Search operation subject to a filter selection.
Provisions the contextual selection of multiple action buttons optimised to appear when and where the anonymous user might need them.
Any maintenance webpage can have a limitless number of associated diverse file attachments e.g. word documents, picture elements, videos. This option provides viewability to these attachments for the current webpage.
Provides access to the GIS mapping platform.
A textbox, drop-down list object etc. is noted as having an associated tooltip when it has an underlined label. Selection of an underlined label, using the mouse pointer, followed by the Tooltip Icon, generates a popup of information about the selected object.
A broadcast medium used to inform the anonymous user of relevant events pertinent to them, with the number of unread broadcasts cast as a double digit count within the Notification bell icon itself.
Allow the anonymous user to increase/decrease the font size to their own requirement.
Selection allows for a hard-copy printout of the current webpage to be produced.

menu items
Inventory Selection provides an in-depth display of the main building blocks used in the formation of England and Wales e.g. local highway authorities, parish councils, settlements etc.
Local Council Name A conditionally displayed local council name menu item, subject to a previous decalaration by the Anonymous User of their local parish/community council. Sub-menu items include a location map and informative details for the named local council
Highway Authority Name A conditionally displayed LHA name menu item, subject to a previous declaration by the Anonymous User of their local LHA. Sub-menu items include a location map and informative details for the named LHA.
Alerts LHA and local parish council clipboards highlighting alerts e.g. impending roadworks, weather warnings is made available to the Anonymous User once their LHA and/or local parish council is registered.
Noticeboard LHA and local parish council noticeboards highlighting council events and welcoming comments is made available to the Anonymous User once their LHA and/or local parish council is registered.
1-2-1 Issues 1-2-1 Issues is an interactive forum between council members and the Anonymous User, allowing the latter the capability to submit queries to the LHA or parish council registered by the Anonymous User, subject to the proviso that the LHA/local parish council is accepting such communication.

Set My LHA Allows the Anonymous User to declare their LHA [Local Highway Authority], which in turn expands, enhances, and tailors the menu options made available.
Set My Local Council Allows the Anonymous User to declare their local parish/community council, which in turn expands, enhances, and tailors the menu options made available.
Save/Restore Vault Settings The application stores LHA and local council details in a cookie, so as to allow fast retrieval. Removal of this cookie immediately reverts the Anonymous User back to the restrictive non-expanded environment. To compensate, the Anonymous User may store these details securely within the application vault by entry of a unique identification code. This storage type also has the additional benefit of allowing the fast retrieval of LHA/local council settings on any other computer.
Delete Cookie Removes LHA and local parish/community details.

gis toolbar buttons
A country is subdivided at government level into administrative areas which are well recognised land divisions e.g. a county or council boundary. Selection toggles currently displayed land divisions On/Off
A settlement, locality or populated place is a community in which people live e.g. hamlets, villages, towns and cities. Selection toggles currently displayed administrative area settlement markers on/off.
Selection toggles national local authority markers on/off.
Selection toggles currently displayed LHA [Local Highway Authority] local parish/community council markers on/off.
Selection toggles non-council national organisations on/off.
District offices are the building blocks of a national organisation. Selection toggles currently displayed national organisation district offices on/off.
Each national council organisation typically maintain a set of dataset portfolios defined locally to their own requirement and also those configured to defined national standards e.g. listing of derelict buildings, Grade II* structures etc. Selection toggles currently displayed portfolio sets on/off.

A countrywide filtered search of national dataset items can be activated using the Magnifying Glass search button
The portfolio marker set presented on the GIS canvas by selection of the P icon, for either localised LHA and/or administrative area settlement popups can be further filtered by use of this button, represented by the Filter icon.
The marker set presented on the GIS canvas that is generated from an external listing webpage can be further filtered by use of the Listing Page Filter button, represented by the double arrows.
Presents a chronological timetable of Anonymous User GIS activity since entry to the GIS canvas area.
Present a listing of current GIS active layers that are currently open and made available to the Anonymous User.
The GIS canvas area can easily become cluttered and cumbersome to operate. Selection of the Bin icon removes everything permanently, save in some instances, the pointer marker icon and some popups.
